Saint Kateri 16" x 20" Print With Frame and Mat

Tekakwitha is her Indian name, which means, "Bumps into Things." She was given this name by her tribe after smallpox arrived in her village and took the lives of her parents and baby brother. Left an orphan, she survived smallpox, however the illness gave her scars and partial blindness.

In this Christi Studio exclusive interpretation of the original painting, created by the Jesuit Missionary Claude Chauchetier, who actually knew her, Saint Kateri is depicted with the sun behind her, illuminated by the cross, in loving memory of how the sun's brightness once blinded her yet now she no longer suffers feeling her way around just to live.

Today, Saint Kateri is known as "Lily of the Mohawks" or "Beautiful Flower Among True Men." She was canonized on October 21, 2012 and is now the first Native North American saint. Her feast is celebrated on July 14th.  

About the print and the frame: It features a scratch-resistant acrylic insert and comes ready to hang. Wipe clean with a damp cloth when it gets dusty. The art's hanger style varies, depending on the weight of the frame.
